About this camp: This camp allows volunteers to learn about global and local environmental issues through workshops, discussions, and hands-on activities such as outdoor cleanup tasks. Participants will engage with the local community, gaining skills to implement their own trash cleaning projects at home, while enjoying the beautiful nature of Reykjavik.
Work: – Learn about global and local environmental issues through workshops and discussions.- Participate in outdoor cleanup tasks, potentially in partnership with local organizations.- Engage with the local community by involving them in some events.- Choose between two hands-on volunteering options: geothermal power plant visit and Hot River Hike or Reykjanes Peninsula coastal cleanup.- Be prepared for outdoor activities that may require adaptability to changing weather conditions.
Accommodation and Food: – Volunteers stay in a shared house in Reykjavik with basic facilities including an equipped kitchen and living areas.- Accommodation is in shared rooms, accommodating up to 6 people, and volunteers must bring their own towels.- Food supplies are provided and volunteers are responsible for cooking; note that meals will be vegetarian.
Leisure Activities: – Reykjavik is a modern city that harmonizes with nature and utilizes renewable energy sources.- The city is the world’s northernmost capital, situated between Europe and North America.- Reykjavik offers a vibrant cosmopolitan cultural scene alongside beautiful natural landscapes.
