About this camp: This camp allows volunteers to learn about global and local environmental issues through workshops, discussions, presentations, and visits while contributing to environmental protection through outdoor cleanup tasks. Participants will also have the opportunity to engage with the local community and learn to plan their own trash cleaning projects at home.
Work: – Learn about global and local environmental issues through various non-formal activities.- Participate in outdoor cleanup tasks, possibly in partnership with local organizations.- Engage with the local community during events that may be open to the public.- Choose between two hands-on volunteering activities: a day trip to Hellisheii geothermal power plant or Reykjanes Peninsula combined with coastal cleanup.- Prepare to share environmental issues from home countries and adapt to changing weather conditions.
Accommodation and Food: – Volunteers stay in a basic house in Reykjavik with shared rooms for up to 6 people.- Food supplies will be provided, but volunteers are responsible for cooking and cleaning, with vegetarian food offered.- Participants should bring their own towels and may need to purchase some ingredients or items that are expensive in Iceland.
Leisure Activities: – Reykjavik is a modern city that harmonizes with nature using renewable energy sources.- It serves as the world’s northernmost capital situated between Europe and North America.- The city offers beautiful landscapes and a vibrant cosmopolitan cultural scene.
