About this camp: The camp is based at Alvira, offering various activities to connect people with nature, including community gardens, wildlife workshops, and hikes. Volunteers will maintain the center through gardening, renovating, and other projects, while sharing environmental issues from their home countries and enjoying the outdoors. No previous experience is required, and volunteers should be adaptable and flexible with their schedule.
Work: – Volunteers will assist in gardening and maintaining the environmental education center.- Projects include removing old fences to protect wildlife and marking walking paths.- The camp features community gardens, wildlife workshops, and school programs.- Participants are encouraged to share experiences and knowledge about environmental issues.- Flexibility is required as weather conditions may affect planned activities.
Accommodation and Food: – Volunteers stay in a basic old farm converted into an environmental education center.- Shared rooms accommodate up to 6 people, and volunteers are responsible for their own cooking and cleaning.- Vegetarian food supplies are provided, and volunteers should bring their own sleeping bags and towels.
Leisure Activities: – The accommodation is located an hour southeast of Reykjavik, under Inglfsfjall mountain.- The area is rich in natural heritage, with diverse vegetation and wildlife.- Outdoor activities include hiking trails that explore cultural heritage, with a peaceful stream and pond nearby.
