About this camp: The volunteering tasks focus on ecosystem restoration and include activities such as pruning young trees, managing native species, creating access paths, restoring riparian vegetation, and controlling invasive plants. Volunteers will camp at Bioparque de Carvalhais with access to basic hygiene facilities and meals provided by MONTIS, including vegetarian options upon request.
Work: – Prune young trees and manage native species to accelerate growth.- Create and maintain access paths for volunteers and visitors.- Restore riparian vegetation and build water runoff barriers.- Control invasive plants like Acacia dealbata.- Assist with camera trapping and record fauna and flora using the iNaturalist app.
Accommodation and Food: – Volunteers will camp with access to a central facility with showers and basic hygiene.- Meals provided include breakfast, lunch (packed), afternoon snack, and dinner, with vegetarian options available.- The camping site includes internet access and outdoor eating facilities, but no kitchen or laundry.
Leisure Activities: – The workcamp is located in a remote rural area.- The closest village is 2 km from the camp.- MONTIS will provide van transportation for needed support.
