About this camp: Volunteers will engage in invasive species control and biodiversity protection efforts within the Vale das Amoreiras Private Protected Area and surrounding ecosystems in southwestern Portugal. Accommodation will be provided in a renovated school with full amenities, alongside three meals daily including vegetarian options.
Work: – Apply techniques to manage invasive alien species threatening natural areas.- Protect biodiversity niches and manage pedestrian trails.- Assist with conservation efforts in the Vale das Amoreiras and other natural ecosystems.- Participate in a LIFE project aimed at improving the conservation status of Juniper trees in coastal dunes.- Engage with local flora and fauna through hands-on conservation activities.
Accommodation and Food: – Stay overnight in a transformed old school equipped for volunteers.- Facilities include full bathrooms.- Three meals a day provided, with vegetarian options available.
Leisure Activities: – The Vale das Amoreiras is part of the national network of protected areas.- The area covers 10.8 hectares, primarily consisting of oak and cork oak forests.- Work will also occur in the Vale dos Homens pine forest focusing on Juniper tree conservation.
