About this camp: The workcamp focuses on the restoration and maintenance of degraded trails and natural heritage, enhancing local flora, fauna, and landscape while promoting environmentally responsible values. Participants will engage in various activities such as building nest-boxes and controlling invasive species at the Quinta Ecológica da Moita, a forest in need of restoration near Aveiro.
Work: – Restoration and clearance of degraded trails and natural heritage.- Trimming and removal of vegetation.- Improvement of local fauna, flora, and landscape for fire prevention.- Building nest-boxes for birds, insects, and bats.- Cleaning a pond to support wildlife.
Accommodation and Food: – Participants will sleep in shared rooms with mattresses; hot water showers are available.- Participants must bring their own towels, hygiene products, and sleeping bags.- Meals (breakfasts, lunches, and dinners) will be provided, with some lunches served in the field.
Leisure Activities: – The camp is set in a 14-hectare forest at Quinta Ecológica da Moita near Aveiro.- The forest was previously an educational site but requires restoration to become visitable again.- Participants will engage in hands-on activities aimed at restoring the forest’s educational potential.
