About this camp: Lohra Castle, with its centuries-old architecture and vast natural surroundings, offers volunteers the opportunity to contribute to its sustainable management, ensuring the grounds remain accessible and well-preserved. This workcamp focuses on seasonal maintenance tasks vital for the site’s aesthetic upkeep, while fostering a unique immersive experience for volunteers who inhabit the medieval site after hours.
Work: – Engage in seasonal maintenance tasks such as mowing and collecting overgrown grass.- Clear organic material from public areas to maintain accessibility.- Ensure the castle’s open spaces are well-kept for visitors.- Contribute to the general maintenance of communal spaces and halls.- Support heritage preservation efforts through volunteer work, even without direct conservation tasks.
Accommodation and Food: – Volunteers stay in rustic but fair conditions within historic sites.- Shared rooms, communal kitchens, and sanitary facilities are provided.- Participants take turns cooking meals, fostering camaraderie and cultural exchange.
