About this camp: Lohra Castle, with its centuries-old architecture and vast natural surroundings, is a site of historical significance that requires continuous care. This workcamp allows volunteers to contribute to the sustainable management of the castle, engaging in essential maintenance tasks to preserve its grounds and ensuring it remains a welcoming space for future visitors.
Work: – Volunteers will engage in seasonal maintenance tasks including mowing and clearing organic material.- The workcamp supports the long-term care of Lohra Castle, enhancing its accessibility and preservation.- Volunteers contribute to the aesthetic and functional upkeep of the historic site, focusing on communal spaces and halls.- The income generated from activities is reinvested into conservation and educational projects.- Participants experience living in a medieval site, fostering a sense of stewardship and connection to heritage.
Accommodation and Food: – Volunteers stay in rustic but fair conditions within the historic site, with basic shared facilities.- Collective meal preparation fosters camaraderie and cultural exchange among participants.- Food is fully provided as part of the programme, ensuring no additional costs for volunteers.
