About this camp: Volunteers will help join the festival by creating large TORO lanterns and small lanterns with local students, culminating in a river float. The experience is physically demanding, and volunteers will live simply in shared accommodation while engaging in local cultural activities.
Work: – Assist in making large TORO lanterns (2 x 2 meters) and hundreds of small lanterns.- Collaborate with local students in designing and floating lanterns.- Participate in physically demanding tasks related to the festival.- Experience a unique cultural exchange with local community members.- Engage in the festival activities during the celebration.
Accommodation and Food: – Stay in a local community building with shared rooms.- Adapt to a simple lifestyle, sleeping on Tatami mats.- Prepare meals by taking turns with fellow volunteers; a sleeping bag is required.
Leisure Activities: – Located in a small town in southern Fukushima, known for its Dahlia flowers.- Experience Japanese cultural activities such as drumming and sports.- Participate in exchange parties, hot springs, and local homestays.
