About this camp: Volunteers will engage in various agricultural activities including maintenance work in satoyama and bamboo forests, restoration of abandoned rice terraces, and planning events for children’s nature experiences. The workcamp is located in Mashiko, Tochigi Prefecture, known for its artistic atmosphere and traditional pottery.
Work: – Maintenance work in satoyama and bamboo forests including bamboo cutting and trail building.- Restoration of abandoned rice terraces to enhance biodiversity.- Mowing, rice harvesting, and threshing activities.- Planning and operating events for children’s nature experiences.- Learning about agricultural practices and local ecosystem conservation.
Accommodation and Food: – Volunteers stay in a single room in a large beautiful house called Meizai-an.- Meals are prepared by volunteers on a rotational basis.- All basic facilities are provided for a comfortable stay.
Leisure Activities: – Mashiko is a town with a rich artistic atmosphere and traditional pottery.- The town is home to historical cultural assets and traditional culture.- Opportunities for work skills training, leadership training, and learning about NPOs.
