About this camp: The workcamp focuses on organic farming activities such as weeding, tilling gardens, and harvesting produce in Juja constituency, Kiambu county, near Nairobi. Volunteers will engage with the local community while learning about sustainable farming practices and have opportunities to explore educational tours to notable sites like Maasai Mara and Lake Nakuru.
Work: – Engage in organic farming activities including weeding, tilling gardens, and harvesting produce.- Attend field visits and training sessions organized for local farmers.- Apply appropriate technology on organic farms for better productivity.- Interact with organic farming students to enhance learning experiences.- Contribute to livestock farming practices in the community.
Accommodation and Food: – Volunteers will be accommodated in a house provided by the host community with basic living conditions.- Meals will be self-cooked by volunteers using foodstuffs provided by KVDA, with safe drinking water available.- Electricity is accessible for charging electrical appliances, and volunteers are encouraged to bring cultural items for an intercultural evening.
Leisure Activities: – Volunteers can visit Nairobi city, exploring its cultural and historical significance.- The project offers educational tours to notable sites within the Mount Kenya region.- KVDA organizes tours to Maasai Mara Game Reserve and Lake Nakuru National Park at additional fees.
