About this camp: The two-week international project at the former Mittelbau-Dora concentration camp focuses on making the site more visible and involves excavation work to reveal the barrack foundations. Educational activities will explore the history of Nazi concentration camps, emphasizing the role of concentration camp prisoners in the armaments industry while engaging in digitally supported project work.
Work: – Conduct excavation work to visualize barrack foundations.- Cut and set large stones into flat outline walls.- Continue work on previously started foundations of former barracks.- Educate participants on the history of Nazi camps and medical practices during that era.- Facilitate discussions and project work using various resources.
Accommodation and Food: – Accommodation is in a separate house on the parish grounds with up to 16 beds.- Facilities include washrooms, showers, a lounge, and laundry services.- Location is 15 minutes by bike from the memorial, with limited Wi-Fi access.
Leisure Activities: – Explore the town of Nordhausen, which has hospitals, theaters, and museums.- Participate in excursions to nearby attractions like the Harz narrow-gauge railway and lakes.- Planned visits to the Buchenwald Memorial and the Forced Labour Museum in Weimar.
