About this camp: This camp focuses on the protection of meadow birds, some of which are threatened with extinction, through practical and creative work with experienced staff from biological stations. Participants will engage in habitat restoration and learn about biodiversity conservation in two different locations, starting in Zwillbrock near the Dutch border.
Work: – Participate in the removal of shrubs and birch to restore habitats for meadow birds.- Engage in a circular walk to learn about different bird species and their identification.- Assist in optimizing breeding sites for endangered meadow birds, especially near water bodies.- Work practically on sustainable meadow bird conservation projects with experienced staff.- Cycle to various reserves and engage with local biodiversity.
Accommodation and Food: – Accommodation includes shared rooms in the guest house of Biologische Zwillbrock e.V. with self-catering facilities.- Move to the guest house of the Wiedenbrck monastery for the second week, with shared rooms and kitchen access.- Participants cook together and can request vegetarian or vegan meals, with a deposit for accommodation collected on site.
Leisure Activities: – Experience two different regions, starting in a rural area near the Dutch border.- Explore the Netherlands by bicycle, visiting a local community market.- Enjoy recreational activities in Rheda-Wiedenbrck, including excursions to nearby university towns and outdoor activities like barbecuing and table tennis.
