About this camp: This workcamp focuses on nature conservation in urban areas, specifically in Gifhorn, where participants will help maintain a sand dune habitat and dismantle a fragile fence around a wetland biotope. Volunteers will also clean rivers of rubbish while learning about the local wildlife in natural waters.




Work: – Remove overgrown shrubs from a sand dune to preserve dry and nutrient-poor habitats.- Dismantle a fragile fence to protect a wetland biotope that serves as a refuge for various species.- Clean rubbish from rivers and embankments to safeguard the environment.- Participate in an information day about wildlife in natural waters.- Work under the guidance of the Environment Department staff.



Accommodation and Food: – Stay in a seminar house with multi-bed rooms, a group room, and a well-equipped kitchen.- Enjoy leisure activities at the neighbouring youth centre, which includes an internet cafe and outdoor relaxation areas.- Cook together with provided money for food, accommodating vegetarian or vegan meals.



Leisure Activities: – Access a playground and football pitch on-site for recreational activities.- Engage in hiking, cycling, and canoeing in the surrounding area.- Attend events and concerts at the youth centre and explore local museums.
