About this camp: Join a workcamp in northern Germany to contribute to the conservation of moors and heaths, working in seven protected areas to create habitats for endangered plant species. Participants will gain insights into nature conservation while engaging in hands-on activities supervised by experienced staff.
Work: – Remove sawn-off trees and shrubs from former peat-cutting areas to create habitats for endangered plant species.- Clear sensitive moor areas to preserve moor development and habitat for the protected smooth snake.- Work in the Swatte Flag nature reserve to clear a shallow water body for dragonflies.- Check bat boxes in the Beverner Wald nature reserve as part of conservation efforts.- Learn about local flora and fauna and ecosystem protection measures.
Accommodation and Food: – Stay in the Badenstedt school hostel, a self-catering house with 4 and 6-bed rooms.- Cook together in a large kitchen with communal areas for meals and activities.- Vegetarian or vegan meals are available upon request, with shopping funds provided.
Leisure Activities: – Enjoy sports and leisure activities in a peaceful natural setting.- Gather around the campfire for evenings together.- Take the hourly bus to the nearby town of Zeven or go on weekend trips to Bremen and Hamburg.
