About this camp: This workcamp focuses on three main tasks: mowing protected mountain meadows by hand to support wildlife habitats, maintaining capercaillie habitats to promote their survival, and performing forest maintenance to enhance biodiversity and prevent wildfires. Participants will work approximately 30 hours per week in the scenic Black Forest National Park.
Work: – Mow protected mountain meadows by hand to preserve wildlife habitats.- Maintain capercaillie habitats by removing wood and branches to enhance conditions.- Conduct forest maintenance by removing branches to improve light and biodiversity.- Work approximately 30 hours per week, from Monday to Friday.- Led by a professional instructor, no prior experience needed.
Accommodation and Food: – Accommodation is in the cozy Kriesenhof building with kitchen, shower, and WIFI.- Volunteers sleep on mattresses in a shared room; sleeping bags are required.- Grocery shopping and cooking will be shared responsibilities, with an emphasis on sustainable dishes.
Leisure Activities: – The camp is located in the Allerheiligen forest district, near the Black Forest National Park.- Numerous hiking opportunities are available, including trails starting from the accommodation.- Easily accessible nearby attractions include Mummelsee, Baden-Baden, and summer toboggan runs.
