About this camp: The Kastanienhof organizes two construction weeks each year, where craftsmen, volunteers, and international participants collaborate on woodwork, plastering, and scaffold construction for a listed building. Participants also engage in agricultural activities and help at a medieval market festival, while enjoying basic but clean accommodations and organic meals.
Work: – Engage in woodwork, plastering with clay and cement, and building on scaffolding.- Participate in small agricultural work, including joint harvest and cooking.- Assist in the medieval market festival at Burg Hanstein, selling products and homemade ice cream.- Collaborate with international volunteers and local craftsmen.- Learn valuable craftsmanship skills.
Accommodation and Food: – Accommodations consist of tents with mattresses and sleeping mats in a barn and residential house attic.- Basic but clean sanitary conditions, including a bucket toilet and solar shower.- Meals feature organic produce, with vegan and vegetarian options available.
Leisure Activities: – The village of Marth is situated in a picturesque hilly landscape with castles.- Nearby towns, such as Hannoversch-Münden and Göttingen, are accessible by train.- The area offers opportunities to explore ancient monuments and natural scenery.
