About this camp: Engage in various activities on a model farm, including planting and harvesting Indigenous African vegetables, while also assisting with community banking and environmental conservation projects. Volunteers will participate in educational workshops and help promote the center’s activities through marketing efforts.
Work: – Engage in day-to-day activities on a model farm, including planting, weeding, and harvesting crops.- Assist in establishing community savings groups and support local entrepreneurs.- Participate in environmental conservation projects such as tree planting and agroforestry.- Facilitate training sessions for local farmers on sustainable agriculture and financial literacy.- Help with digital marketing and documenting success stories for outreach purposes.
Accommodation and Food: – Accommodation will be in shared rooms, requiring volunteers to bring their own sleeping bags and mosquito nets.- Volunteers will share the responsibility of preparing food from locally available foodstuffs.- Meals will be prepared collectively during the workcamp.
Leisure Activities: – Volunteers can participate in evening walks, home visits, and cultural meetings.- Weekend trips to Lake Victoria and the equator line are available.- Early morning visits to Kakamega Rainforest for hiking and watching the sunrise will be offered.
