About this camp: Volunteers will engage in various activities at the Model Farm, including tilling land, planting crops, and maintaining domesticated animals. Additionally, they will assist in teaching basic subjects to kindergarten pupils and participate in maintenance activities at the center, while the work may vary based on program availability.
Work: – Tilling the land, planting crops, and harvesting produce.- Maintaining and feeding domesticated animals such as rabbits and chickens.- Assisting in cleaning animal sheds and teaching kindergarten subjects.- Training youth in computer and work preparedness skills.- Organizing games and extracurricular activities for children.
Accommodation and Food: – Accommodation in shared rooms at the project site, requiring a sleeping bag and mosquito net.- Volunteers will prepare food using locally available ingredients and share cooking responsibilities.- Safe drinking water is provided, with the option to purchase mineral water nearby.
Leisure Activities: – Evening walks, home visits, and cultural meetings are part of the experience.- Weekend trips to Lake Victoria and the equator line are available.- Early morning visits to Kakamega Rainforest for hiking and sunrise viewing.
