About this camp: This workcamp involves a variety of farmwork activities such as permaculture, teaching mathematics, English, and creative arts in schools, as well as home visits and assisting the elderly. Volunteers will also engage in environmental conservation tasks like weeding, soil conservation, and beach clean-ups, while experiencing local culture through walks and visits to nearby attractions.
Work: – Engage in farmwork activities including permaculture and environmental conservation.- Teach mathematics, English, and creative arts subjects in local schools.- Conduct home visits and assist with cleaning for the elderly and sick.- Participate in weeding, slashing, and clearing of bushes.- Organize beach clean-up exercises to improve community sanitation.
Accommodation and Food: – Accommodation will be in shared rooms at a host house.- Volunteers must bring their own sleeping bag and mosquito net.- Food will be prepared using locally available ingredients, with shared cooking responsibilities.
Leisure Activities: – Volunteers can enjoy evening walks and home visits.- Participate in cultural meetings and games.- Weekend excursions to Rusinga hills, Mafangano Islands, and Tom Mboya Mausoleum.
