About this camp: In this workcamp, volunteers will assist local people in making bricks for income generation, provide jiggers eradication and treatment in schools and homes, prepare tree nurseries, conduct home visits, and distribute sanitary towels to needy children. Volunteers with medical qualifications can help in the dispensary, while sharing accommodation and food responsibilities during the camp.
Work: – Assist local people in making bricks for income generation- Conduct jiggers eradication and treatment in local schools and homes- Prepare tree nurseries and plant new trees- Conduct home visits and exchange programs in local schools- Distribute sanitary towels to needy children in schools
Accommodation and Food: – Accommodation is in a house close to the workcamp- Volunteers must bring their own sleeping mat and sleeping bag- Food will be prepared from locally available foodstuffs, and drinking water should be boiled or medicated before consumption
Leisure Activities: – Evening nature walks, home visits, cultural meetings, and games- Weekend visits to Lake Victoria and the equator line sign- Early morning visits to Kakamega Rainforest for hiking and sunrise viewing
