About this camp: With its rich history, the fortress has welcomed international volunteers since the 1980s to help maintain and promote it, enlivening local life during the summer. This year, five international workcamps are organized at the fortress over the summer, focusing on restoration tasks and environmental actions.
Work: – Participate in the restoration of the fortress and its environment.- Learn traditional masonry techniques including re-pointing walls and making lime mortar.- Maintain woodwork, including safety barriers and relaxation areas.- Engage in environmental actions like clearing brush and maintaining the vegetable garden.- Contribute to the preservation of exceptional heritage and local life.
Accommodation and Food: – Accommodation is in tents, located 10-15 minutes on foot from the fortress and 5 minutes from the village center.- On-site organization promotes an eco-friendly lifestyle with waste sorting and composting.- Volunteers collaboratively plan meals and maintain shared spaces.
Leisure Activities: – Montaigu-le-Blin village offers a rich historical and cultural heritage.- The fortress, built in the 13th century, was constructed to defend against the counties of Auvergne and Forez.- The setting provides a unique opportunity to engage with local history and culture.
