About this camp: With its rich history, international volunteers have been welcomed at the castle since the 1980s to help maintain and promote it, and enliven local life during the summer. This year, 5 international workcamps are organized at the fortress over the summer, where participants will engage in restoration tasks, learn traditional masonry techniques, and contribute to environmental maintenance.
Work: – Participate in the preservation and enhancement of the Montaigu-le-Blin fortress.- Learn traditional masonry techniques including removing and re-pointing walls.- Assist with maintaining wooden structures and constructing relaxation areas.- Engage in environmental activities such as clearing brush and maintaining a vegetable garden.- Contribute to the overall upkeep and restoration of this historical site.
Accommodation and Food: – Accommodation is provided in tents, located 10-15 minutes on foot from the fortress.- On-site organization promotes eco-friendly practices such as waste sorting and composting.- Volunteers actively participate in daily life organization, including meal planning and maintaining shared spaces.
Leisure Activities: – The village of Montaigu-le-Blin is rich in historical and cultural heritage.- The fortress, dating back to the 13th century, was built to defend the crown of France.- Participants can explore the local heritage and learn about its significance.
