About this camp: This project is divided into two key components: improving livelihoods for selected families through gardening and small-scale production, and connecting volunteers with local women’s groups, families, and children to share experiences and cultural insights. Accommodation is in a traditional village house with a local family, providing a unique cultural experience in a scenic rural area close to historical sites.




Work: – Support selected families in improving their livelihoods through gardening activities.- Engage in home gardening and plant nursery initiatives.- Participate in small-scale domestic production.- Connect with local women’s groups and village youth.- Share personal stories and experiences to gain cultural insights.



Accommodation and Food: – Stay in a traditional village house with a local family.- Shared but separate rooms for male and female volunteers.- Host mother provides meals, and volunteers handle their own cleanliness and laundry.



Leisure Activities: – Located 114 km from Colombo, the area is nestled in the mountains at 590 meters elevation.- Close to historical kingdoms of Gampola (17 km) and Kandy (46 km).- Scenic landscapes and remnants of British colonial architecture are present.
