What does “home” mean after a time of disruption and separation? Through the lens of “Winter Chants”, we invite you to step into Ho Chung New Village — a community in Sai Kung with over 500 years of history — and reflect on the meaning of home. Can the culture and traditions of rural villages continue to thrive amidst rapid urban development?
VolTra warmly invites you to the VolTra Screening: “Winter Chants”, part of the Glocal Leader Academy Intercultural Bootcamp 2025. The film captures the preparation of a major village ritual — the once-in-a-decade Taiping Qingjiao festival — against the backdrop of the pandemic and intergenerational transition. It reveals the deep-rooted love for the land and unwavering commitment to preserving a sense of home.
Following the screening, you’re invited to join an open dialogue with the film director, local villagers, and international participants of bootcamp, as we explore how traditional cultures around the world adapt to a fast-changing modern society.
