Project Background:

Cambodia has been a country of global interest due to the facts that remain from the past tragedy with its smaller population in the previous centuries; factors of social, cultural, and environmental issues have been the ongoing subject matters to be concerned.

Nowadays, Cambodia faces a myriad of challenges, including environmental degradation, water scarcity, unsustainable farming practices, and rural poverty. Many communities, particularly in rural areas, are grappling with limited access to education, skill-building resources, and opportunities for economic development.

Project Objectives:

  • Improve the local drinking water quality by teaching the community about the goods of moringa seeds.
  • Empower youth to contribute to sustainable solutions and community development through introducing sustainable farming species to make use of the land to the largest extent.
  • Provide students with a “live like a local” experience through an immersive living and service experience in a rural Cambodian environment distinct from Hong Kong.

Learning by Doing
Understanding the History – Museum Visit
  • Participants will visit Ruseydom Village to immerse themselves in the local way of life.
  • Understand the challenges faced by the community, including: Water scarcity, Limited farming opportunities, Environmental hygiene issues
  • Interact with families and observe their routines to gain a deeper appreciation for the villagers' resilience.
  • Planting Moringa trees to: Improve soil quality, Enhance water filtration, Improve drinking groundwater quality
  • Assist in organic farming to: Introduce sustainable farming techniques, Promote species that maximize land use efficiency
  • Holding Handicraft Workshops for Villagers like Soap-making and Macramé water bottle holder making
  • Visit to Genocide Museum (S21) and Killing Fields
